GEORGETOWN – Immigration officers today arrested 27 Thai women working illegally as guest relations officers at an entertainment centre in Jalan Green Hall here.
Penang Immigration Department Enforcement Division chief Abdul Rahman Hassan said some of the women also doubled up singers and musicians.
The officers also held a Bangladeshi, two Thai and two Nepalese men working illegally as waiters there, he said today.
All those detained, aged between 20 and 35, had abused their social visit pass, overstayed or had no travel documents, he said.
Abdul Rahman said initial investigations showed that the GROs at the centre, which had been raided several times, also offered sexual services. – BERNAMA
