KUALA BERANG – A total of 211 summonses were issued by the Terengganu police during ‘Ops Selamat 11/2017’ as of 1pm today for various traffic offences.
Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy chief ASP Ismail Man said, of the total, 173 summonses were issued for driving exceeding the permitted speed limit while another 38 were for various other offences.
“From the offences recorded, we have detected several vehicles that had one of its numbers or letters covered by a black sticker to avoid from being identified,” he told reporters at Ajil Rest and Service (RNR) area here today.
He added that there were also drivers who deliberately took out a number or a letter from the car registration plate with the intention that the police would not be able to identify them when they committed traffic offences.
Today’s operation involved five police officers and 18 personnel from the Bukit Aman and the Terengganu contingent to detect drivers committing various traffic offences, he said. – BERNAMA
