PETALING JAYA – The organiser of the second edition of the Shimano Highway Challenge 2014 in November expects to attract 2,000 cyclists of all ages.
Hivelocity Events Sdn Bhd director C.G Lim said the 78 km-event at the Kajang-Seremban (Lekas) Highway had to date drawn some 600 participants since registration opened on Sept 2.
“It’ll be bigger and better than last year. We have improved all aspects of the event and we look forward to welcoming both recreational cyclists and advanced cycling enthusiasts of all ages to this one-of-a-kind event,” he briefed reporters here today.
Last year, 1,352 cyclists took part in the highway challenge.
“We encourage ladies to join the ride as cycling is a sport that’s suitable for everyone who wishes to live a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
The event starts at the Kajang South toll plaza and stretches all the way to beyond the Ampangan toll plaza and back. The entire stretch will be closed off to traffic during the event. – Bernama
