KUALA LUMPUR – A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were injured when a tree fell at Jalan Ampang near the Petronas Twin Tower here today.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) director Khiruddin Drahman said the incident occurred about 7.30 am.
He said both the victims had been sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
“Work is being carried out by Kuala Lumpur City Hall to clean the area of debris from the fallen tree,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
It occurred during peak hour and resulted in temporary closure of the raid, but traffic policemen were seen guiding motorists to ease traffic congestion in the area.
A Bernama journalist who was at KLCC said DBKL workers were busy clearing the affected area with the aid of a heavy machinery.
As at 10.15 am, the work to clear the debris from the fallen tree, which was then cut into small pieces, was still in progress.
The incident occurred during fine weather and attracted passers-by who stopped to take photographs and video, and then shared it on the social media. – BERNAMA
