KUALA LUMPUR – Two cousins were fined RM2,000 in default two months in jail each, by the Magistrate’s Court here today for extortion involving RM650.
L. Jayakumar, 32, and L. Murali, 26, pleaded guilty before magistrate Mohd Faizal Ismail to committing the offence on Muhammad Firdaus Ahmad Shibbe, 27, at the Jalan Pahang roundabout here at 11.45am on June 24.
Based on facts of the case, the victim was driving a Perodua Myvi when he was intercepted by the duo who introduced themselves as car repossessors from the bank.
The victim had requested to see the authority letter from the bank but the duo did not show any and instead ordered the former to hand over the money or they would seize the car.
Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Farith Muhammad Faizal Jaafar appeared for the prosecution while Murali and Jayakumar were represented by counsel R. Mageswaran. – BERNAMA
