KUALA LUMPUR – A commemoration ceremony for the first anniversary of the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH17 tragedy will be held on July 11, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
The ceremony will be held at the Bunga Raya Complex of the KL International Airport (KLIA).
“We are deeply concerned about what happened to the flight and vow to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he told reporters after opening the Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI) building at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Sam Yoke here today.
Flight MH17 en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam was shot down over troubled eastern Ukraine on July 17 last year, killing all 298 people on board.
Liow said the final report on the tragedy was expected to be ready soon.
“We are waiting for the report prepared by the international investigation team and confident that the findings will reveal the perpetrators of the downing of MH17.
“We want the report to be out as soon as possible because the anniversary is around the corner…but we will give them a little more time,” he said.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Liow urged the Education Ministry to provide more special education teachers in schools. – BERNAMA
