KUALA LUMPUR – 1MDB president and group executive director Arul Kanda today appeared before the Public Accounts Committee for the first time to give his testimony on the government investment firm.
He was seen arriving at Parliament House at about 10.30 am to appear before the PAC, led by chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin, at 11 am.
“Yes, we are ready for the proceedings,” Arul Kanda said with a smile in the media conference room before attending the proceedings.
A press conference is expected to be called at 2 pm.
The PAC had reportedly asked Arul Kanda to testify in May and August but he did not appear before the committee then.
1MDB former president and CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi appeared before the PAC yesterday. 1MDB was set up in 2009 under his management.
Hasan reportedly said that the final report of the auditor-general on 1MDB was expected to be handed over to the PAC on Dec 17.
He said the PAC would also ask 1MDB chairman Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin to testify as well after the auditor-general had handed over the report.
As such, he said, the full report on 1MDB was expected to be completed by the PAC in March 2016. – BERNAMA
