KUALA LUMPUR: Strategic development company 1MDB has appointed Tan Sri Abdul Samad Alias, chairman of Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM), to the company’s Board of Advisors.
In a statement today, 1MDB said the appointment added to the list of eminent local and international figures who currently sat on its Board of Advisors, an honorary body that helped determine and guide the vision of the wholly government-owned company.
Chairman of 1MDB Board of Directors, Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin, said the company was honoured to have Abdul Samad, one of the most respected figures in Malaysias financial community, on its Board of Advisors.
“His advice will be invaluable as the company moves forward with its strategic review, with the aim of ensuring that 1MDB is best-positioned to maximise value from its investment portfolio and fulfil its broader economic objectives,” he said.
Abdul Samad has been the chairman of PIDM since Aug 15, 2011.MYNEWSHUB
