YANGON – At least 14 people have been killed and 152 others injured during this year’s Myanmar water festival, in connection with criminal cases as of Saturday, China’s Xinhua news agency reported according to an official report.
The 147 cases included car accidents due to drunk driving, rape, stealing and group fighting, said Myanmar-language Myanma Alin Daily.
This year’s traditional Thingyan water festival ran from last Thursday to Sunday.
During last year’s Myanmar water festival, a total of 36 people were killed and 316 others injured. – BERNAMA
