ALOR SETAR – Fourteen Myanmar nationals were detained by the Immigration Department in an operation, code-named “Ops Sapu”, in Kampung Jabi, Pokok Sena here early today.
Kedah Immigration director Mohamad Yusri Hashim said the immigrants, consisting of 11 men and three women between 19 and 54 years-old, were detained for various immigration offences in the operation which began at 2.30 am.
“The Myanmar nationals were employed at a vegetable farm in the village since four to nine months ago with a daily wage of RM35.00,” he said in a statement today.
He said the immigrants would be sent to the Immigration Detention Depot at Belantik, Sik for further action. – BERNAMA
