LAHAD DATU The cost of living allowance given to 128 fishermen here today has helped make their lives easier if they cannot go out to sea.
Fisheries Development Board chairman Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim said the allowance would also improve their standard of living.
“I see the allowance as an effort by the government to look after the welfare of the fishermen and to show its concern for their development and socio-economics,” he said after presenting the allowance and officiating the 11th annual general meeting of the Lahad Datu Fishermen’s Association.
The fishermen received an allowance of between RM200 to RM300 each.
Also present was Silam Member of Parliament, Datuk Nasrun Mansur. – BERNAMA
