MELAKA – A total of 122 people are still at three flood evacuation centres in Melaka as at 8 am today, from 132 people last night.
State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat Lt Col (PA) Effendy Ali said the remaining evacuees included teachers and students of the Madrasah Tahfiz al-Quran Ainur Syukriah religious school, totalling 70 people, from 80 last night.
He said the teachers and students, previously located at the Kampung Panchor Mosque in Durian Tunggal, were now at the relief centre at the Kampung Panchor Community Hall.
“The number of flood victims at two other evacuation centres remain unchanged, with 47 people from eight families at Sekolah Kebangsaan Belimbing Dalam, Durian Tunggal, and five people from two families at the Kampung Tanjung Rimau Luar Community Hall in Gadek,” he said when contacted today.
Effendy, who is Melaka Malaysia Civil Defence Force Director, said the weather condition in the morning was reported fine and the river water was now at normal level. – BERNAMA
