SHAH ALAM – Eleven employers in Selangor were fined a total of RM110,100 after they pleaded guilty to not paying the minimum wage to their employees when charged in the Magistrate’s Court from January to June this year, according to Selangor Labour Department director Mohd Asri Abd Wahab.
“Besides this, 10 employers were also slapped with compound fines totalling RM50,400 for various offences under the Employment Act 1955,” he said in statement here today.
He added that two cases were investigated for exploitation of workers and that one of the employers was fined RM50,000 by the Kajang Sessions Court.Â Â
The six victims in the case were repatriated to their home countries after their salary arrears totalling RM33,000 were paid to them. – Bernama
