KUALA LUMPUR – A total 1,000 primary and secondary school students in Lembah Pantai here received schooling aid at a Cheerful to School Programme today.

Lembah Pantai UMNO chief Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said the assistance in the form of school bags and vouchers worth RM100 each were contributed by the Federal Territory Foundation with the co-operation of UMNO Lembah Pantai.

“To some extent, the aid will ease the burden of parents especially the less well-to-do in providing schooling items for their children,” he told reporters after handing over the contributions.

He said such aid would continue to be carried out in easing the burden of the people apart from injecting enthusiasm in the children to go to school.

The schooling aid involved about 17,000 students from poor families in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan via an allocation of RM2.5 million. – BERNAMA
