IPOH: Universiti Teknology Petronas (UTP) yesterday lendÂ a helping hand when it brought cheers to 100 underprivileged students who
received school items and cash donation through the “Menggapai Impian”Â programme.
The students were from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tronoh, SK Sri Tronoh,Â Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Tamil Tronoh, SJK Cina Chung Sun, SekolahÂ Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tronoh, SK Iskandar Perdana, SK Seri Iskandar, SMKÂ Seri Iskandar and children of UTP janitors.
UTP Vice Chancellor, Datuk Ir Dr Abdul Rahim Hashim said the programme,Â organised by UTP, was aimed to provide underprivileged children a head start inÂ their education and better learning experience.
“Under this Corporate Social Responsibility Programme (CSR), UTP staffÂ volunteer to sponsor a minimum of RM200 for one child. Each child will be givenÂ school necessities in the form of school uniforms, bags, shoes and stationeryÂ for the new school term.
“Apart from this, each students also received a RM100 cash donation in theÂ form of Bank Rakyat savings account book contributed by UTP Alumni Association,”Â he said in a statement.
He said the event also encouraged UTP staff to foster the spirit of sharingÂ and giving to those in need.
“Menggapai Impian” programme which was held since 2007 has benefit 624Â children from orphanages and schools in Perak.–BERNAMA
