KUALA LUMPUR – Premier League leaders Kedah failed to turn home ground advantage into three points after managing only a 0-0 draw against 10-man Penang at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar, last night.
The result however, did not threaten the team’s overall standings in the Premier League table as Kedah have 36 points from 17 matches, two more than second placed T-Team, who also shared the spoils against NS Matrix at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.
Penang were reduced to 10-man in the 35th minute when Mat Saiful Mohamad was given the marching orders by the referee for a second bookable offence but Kedah failed to turn the one man advantage into goals.
In the match between T-Team and NS Matrix, Liberian import Francis Forkey Doe gave NS Matrix a flying start in the 55th minute but Muhamad Zulhanizam Shafine levelled the tie in the 63rd minute.
At the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka, PKNS FC scored a convincing 2-0 win over Johor Darul Ta’zim II to move up to third place and dispose Penang to fourth in the league table on goal difference although both have 30 points.
Both PKNS FC’s goals were scored by its imports, Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh (10th min) and Pedro Henrique (43rd min).
In Kuantan, club side Kuantan FA shocked Sabah 3-1 at the Darul Makmur Stadium to move out of the danger zone.
Kuantan’s three imports Fabrice Noel (35th min), Milan Purovic (73rd min) and Tarik El Janaby (75th min), found the target to give their team a 3-0 lead before Eamon Zayed scored Sabah’s consolation goal in the 81st minute.
